LNG Canada Marine Terminal
Kitimat, British Columbia
Marine Fender Systems, Docking & Mooring Systems, Mooring Bollards 

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was selected by the EPC contractor, BESIX VanPile JV, to provide Quick Release Hooks, Capstans, Berthing Aid Systems, Environmental Monitoring Systems, SSL Systems, Marine Fender Systems and other ancillary equipment for the new LNG Canada Marine Terminal. GRIFFIN also supplied the Mooring Bollards for the Material Offloading Facility under a separate contract with BAM International; GRIFFIN worked in partnership with Trelleborg Marine Systems’ USA, Australia and UK offices to design, supply and commission the various equipment, which will help to ensure safe vessel operations at the LNG Canada marine facilities in Kitimat, BC.

TransMountain Marine Terminal

Marine Fender Systems, Docking & Mooring Systems

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems and Trelleborg Marine Systems were selected by the Kiewit Ledcor JV (KLTP), the general contractor for the TransMountain Marine Terminal, to provide the Marine Fender Systems, Quick Release Hooks, and ancillary equipment for the new TransMountain Marine Terminal in Burnaby, BC . GRIFFIN worked in partnership with Trelleborg Marine Systems’ USA and Australia offices to manufacture, deliver and commission the various equipment. This was a schedule critical project to support TransMountain Pipeline operations and all equipment was successfully delivered on time and within budget.

Centerm Marine Terminal

Marine Fender Systems, Specialty Mounting Hardware

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by the EPC contract, Centerm Expansion Partners JV, to design and supply the Marine Fender Systems for the new Centerm Marine Terminal in Vancouver, BC. The large fender systems consisted of 1600 x 1200 MV Leg Fenders, 6.50 x 4.25 meter steel panels, a specially designed corner fender system, mounting hardware and miscellaneous accessories. Given the size of the components, the fender systems were shipped directly to a nearby marine facility via break bulk vessel. GRIFFIN worked closely to the local Stevedores to ensure the safe offloading and final delivery of the equipment to the project site.

Ferry Terminal Upgrades
Saint John, New Brunswick
Marine Fender Systems, Steel Fabrications

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was awarded a contract by McNally Construction to provide the marine fenders, mooring equipment and other fabricated dock equipment to upgrade the berthing structures for Bay Ferries in Saint John, New Brunswick. GRIFFIN's scope of supply included (16) 14-meter long steel panel SCN Fender Systems, MT Mooring Bollards and miscellaneous steelwork. The miscellaneous steelwork included mooring rails, torsion pipes, ladders, and steel fender stools. The oversize panels were shipped via flat racks to the Port of Halifax, trans-loaded and transported to Saint John by flat decks. All equipment was manufactured and delivered on time and within budget.

Ocean Protection Program

Oil Spill Response Systems, Floating Oil Storage Tanks

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was selected by Canada Coast Guard (CCG) to provide advanced Oil Skimming Systems and Floating Oil Storage Tanks under three separate contracts related to Canada’s Oceans Protection Program. The equipment was designed to ensure CCG was equipped to effectively respond to oil spill incidents in Canada’s offshore and arctic waters. Together with Lamor Corporation’s office in USA and Finland, we designed, manufactured, delivered and commissioned the most advanced oil spill response equipment available in the international market. A total of (7) Oil Skimming Systems and (220) Floating Oil Storage Tanks were successfully delivered on time and budget to response bases in Mount Pearl NL, Dartmouth NS, Quebec QC, Prescott ON, and Victoria BC.

Côte-Nord Bollard Inspections

BollardScan Inspection Services

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted to perform Non-Destructive Testing of the mooring bollards at various government-owned marine terminals in the Côte-Nord Region of Northern Quebec. GRIFFIN worked in partnership with our inspection partner, BollardScan, to perform the inspections on a total of (29) mooring bollards at the Natashquan and Tete-a-la-Baleine Marine Terminals. The inspections were successfully completed and the verification reports were reviewed and stamped by WSP Canada. As a result of this project, the facility owner and operators have a full understanding of the safe working loads and can ensure safe mooring operations at the marine terminals.

Ferry Terminal Upgrades
Tobermory, Ontario
High-Efficiency LED Lighting 

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems in partnership with Phoenix Lighting was contracted by Owen Sound Transportation to provide new high-efficiency LED lighting systems for the Tobermory and South Baymouth ferry terminals in the Great Lakes Region of Ontario. The new high-mast LED lighting will help to increase operational safety and energy efficiencies at the two terminals. for this application, we provided our Highland Series Large Area Light Fixtures, Photo Cell Control Systems and all required  mounting hardware. The new lighting systems were delivered on schedule for a planned terminal shutdown and installed without any lost time to the ferry operations.

Public Pier Safety Upgrades
Kincardine, Ontario
Port-Safety Ladder Systems

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by Municipality of Kincardine to provide new pedestrian ladder systems to address public safety concerns at their Kincardine public wharf. In partnership with Port-Safety, we designed and supplied ten (10) new marine ladder systems complete with solar-powered LED lights. These high-visibility ladder systems will help to increase the safety of their quayside personnel and resist impacts from port users to reduce ongoing replacement and maintenance costs.

Vancouver Airport Fuel Terminal
Richmond, British Columbia
Marine Fender Systems, Docking & Mooring Systems, Oil Spill Response Systems

​GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was selected by Moffatt Nichol and RAM Engineering to provide the Marine Fender Systems, Docking & Mooring Systems, and Oil Spill Response Systems for a new fuel delivery terminal on the Fraser River in Richmond, BC. In partnership with our manufacturing partners Trelleborg Marine Systems and Lamor Corporation, we successfully delivered and commissioned the full suite of marine protection equipment on schedule to safely receive the first fuel vessel . In addition to providing the equipment, we successfully managed the installation of the Oil Spill Response Systems and provided equipment training for the terminal operators.

COVE Marine Terminal

Marine Fender Systems, Mooring Bollards

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by BuildNS to provide Trelleborg SeaGuard Fenders and MDB Mooring Bollards to support the safe berthing operations at the new COVE Marine Terminal in Dartmouth, NS. Additional marine fenders and mooring bollards were supplied to Dexter Construction to support their COVE South Expansion Project. A total of (51) Trelleborg SeaGuard Fenders of various sizes and (13) Trelleborg MDB Mooring Bollards were supplied on time and within budget. All equipment was manufactured in a custom "Butterscotch" colour to meet the owner's specifications.

Kildair Oil Terminal Upgrades

Marine Fender Systems, Specialty Mounting Structures

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems in partnership with Trelleborg Marine Systems worked with Kildair Services, and their marine consulting engineer, to design and manufacture new MCS Cell Fender Systems and custom steel mounting frames to upgrade the berthing capacity of Kildair’s oil handling terminal in Sorel-Tracy, QC.
This was a fast-tracked project due to a critical future berthing, which was completed on time and on budget. In addition, GRIFFIN provided Pneumatic Fender rentals throughout the project to enable the continued use of the berth.

Woodside Oil Terminal Upgrades

Marine Fender Systems, Steel Mounting Structures

GRIFFIN Engineered Systems was contracted by facility owner to manufacturer and deliver (4) 2000mm MCS Cell Fender Systems with large, custom-designed steel mounting frames to upgrade their marine facilities and increase their berthing capacity of their oil handling terminal in Dartmouth, NS. GRIFFIN worked closely with the project consulting engineer Hatch Mott MacDonald and general contractor McNally Construction to assist with the onsite installation and commissioning of the large fender units. This was a schedule-critical project which was complete on time and on budget.
